Roman blinds

Flat, quiet folds that sit inside the window rather than around it — useful where a curtain would crowd the room. Enter your width and drop and the price is worked out from the area, in stitched or clipped construction.

Choosing roman blinds

Where romans work

A roman blind gives the softness of fabric in the footprint of a blind: it stacks into neat horizontal folds at the top of the window and leaves the sill clear. They suit kitchens, studies, bathrooms and any window where a floor-length curtain would be in the way, and they pair well with a sheer curtain on the same window.

Each blind is made to your exact width and drop, fully lined, chain-operated with child-safe fittings.

Inside or outside the recess

Fitted inside the recess, a roman sits flush and looks built-in; measure the exact recess width and drop at three points and use the smallest, and we deduct the clearance. Fitted outside, on the wall above the window, it blocks more light: add 10 cm each side and 10–15 cm above the frame.

Questions

Frequently asked

Should a roman blind be fitted inside or outside the window recess?
Inside for a flush, built-in look on a window with a deep, square recess; outside — on the wall above — where the recess is shallow or you want to block more light. Measure accordingly and tell us which on the product page.
Can roman blinds be blackout?
Ask for a blackout lining when you order and we quote for it; fitted outside the recess with a 10 cm overlap each side, it darkens a bedroom well.
How do I measure for a roman blind?
For an inside fit, measure the recess width and drop at three points and give us the smallest of each. For an outside fit, decide the finished width (frame plus 10 cm each side) and the drop from the fixing point to the sill or below it.
How long do made-to-measure roman blinds take?
Four to six weeks from sign-off, then tracked delivery Australia-wide — free on every Australian order.
Can I get a fabric sample first?
Yes, samples are free and posted within one working day.
