Choosing designer curtains

Pattern without shouting

Jacquards, geometric weaves, ikats, houndstooth and herringbone: pattern that comes from the weave rather than a print, so it reads as texture from across the room and as detail up close. Dual-layer sets pair a patterned drape with a matching sheer so the window is dressed for day and night in one order.

Neutrals — greige, taupe, sand, ivory — are the safe way into pattern; a deep tone such as noir or amber makes the window the room's focal point.

Sizing and fullness

Each curtain comes in two panel widths — about 130 cm and 254 cm — in standard drops from 160 cm to 274 cm, and you can enter your own width and drop on the product page for anything else. Widths are per panel and each pack is two panels, so the narrower pair covers a window up to about 130 cm wide at 2× fullness, and the 254 cm pair a window up to about 240 cm.

Headings

Every curtain is made in the heading you choose on the product page: eyelet, pinch pleat, triple pleat, reverse tab or S-fold. Eyelets suit a rod and give deep, even folds; pinch and triple pleats hang from hooks on a track or rings and read more formal; reverse (back) tab hides the rod behind the fabric; S-fold needs a wave track and gives the continuous ripple you see in hotels.

How to measure

Fit the rod or track first, 10–15 cm above the frame and extending 15–25 cm past it each side, then measure from the top of the rod (or the underside of the track) to where you want the hem: sill, 1 cm above the floor, or puddled. Measure the drop at both ends and use the shorter figure. Our measuring guide walks through it with diagrams.

Questions

Frequently asked

Are patterned curtains matched across the pair?
Yes. Jacquards and woven patterns are cut so the repeat aligns across both panels of a pack and, where you order several pairs for one room, across the pairs.
What is a dual-layer curtain?
A patterned or textured drape supplied with a matching sheer, hung together on a double rod or track. The sheer handles daytime glare and privacy; the drape closes over it at night.
Can designer curtains be made blackout?
Yes — ask for a blackout lining when you order and we quote for it. Or pair the designer drape with a curtain from the blackout range on a double track.
What size do I need for my window?
The narrower pair covers a window up to about 130 cm wide at 2× fullness; the 254 cm pair up to about 240 cm. Enter a custom width and drop on the product page for anything else.
How long do they take?
Four to six weeks from sign-off, then tracked delivery Australia-wide — free on every Australian order.
Can I order a fabric sample?
Yes, samples are free and posted within one working day.
